Missions
Partners for the best of packaging
The French Packaging Council (CNE), a non-profit organization founded in 1997, is an exchange platform and a forum for dialogue between the various players of the packaging industry: packaging materials manufacturers, packaging manufacturers (converters), producers of consumer goods, distributors, approved collection and recovery systems and operators, local authorities as well as consumer and environmental organizations.
The mission of the CNE is to develop and disseminate better practices in designing, using and marketing consumer products packaging. As it is historically active in the development of a packaging waste prevention policy, the CNE more generally wishes to be a spearhead in the development of a responsible policy relative to the eco-design of consumer products.
This results in different actions:
- Developing and disseminating good practices in designing, using and marketing consumer products packaging,
- Acting as a spearhead in the development of a responsible policy on the eco-design of consumer products,
- Extending prevention through source reduction,
- Formulating opinions, recommendations and advice to the Public Authorities on the packaging of consumer products,
- Organizing consultation between partners.
The CNE encourages businesses and organizations involved in the packaging chain to engage in this proactive and preventive approach and to act effectively in the design, manufacture, composition, use and recovery of packaging, while ensuring the integrity of the functions of packaging and the use value of the product/packaging pairing.
