2012 is a special year for several reasons. While Emballages Magazine celebrated its 80 years of existence at the Musée des arts et métiers on June 27th, Eco-Emballages is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary in December and the Salon de l’Emballage (one of the largest packaging trade fair) will be celebrating its 40th edition.
Emballage 2012 is organised by Comexposium and will be held from November 19th to 22nd in Paris Nord Villepinte. It is also the perfect time for French Packaging Council (CNE) to send a message of prevention and to share best practices as part of the series of conferences Pack Vision and the different meetings scheduled during this major event in the sector. For instance, CNE stresses the fact that a comparison of the environmental impact of packaging made from different materials can only be drawn on the basis of objective criteria, all the more so that a change in the material used cannot be considered as an action of source reduction. The packaging industry aims to reduce packaging by 100,000 tons in 2012 and to reach a 75% recycling rate, compared with 67% today. The sector is entering a new stage, and CNE is taking the lead.
