Interview of Michel FONTAINE
www.emballageweb.com
Increasing attendance at the “Salon EMBALLAGE 2012”, expanded contacts with international packaging associations, in addition to the “Eco-design methodological guidebook” due out in April, etc. The Conseil National de l’Emballage (the French Packaging Council) definitely has a busy schedule for the year 2012. Michel Fontaine tells us all about the highlights of this year.
Publication of the CNE document called “Eco-design and packaging: methodological guidebook”
The main task of the CNE (French Packaging Council) is to work out and spread best practices in terms of design, prevention and reduced environmental impact all along the value chain of the packaging. The CNE wrote a three-fold Environment plan:
Becoming a reference in terms of Eco-design by establishing a recognized definition of “eco-design” and all its related terms.
Becoming a reference for packaging regarding environmental claims.
Meeting with stakeholders in order to spread best practices.
Interview of Véronique SESTRIERES
The 40th edition of the “Salon International EMBALLAGE” will take place in Paris in November 2012.
The exhibition is a real international showcase for the packaging industry. Once again, this year’s show features a range of various technologies and materials as well as events and conferences. It represents an opportunity for visitors and exhibitors alike to find out about the most recent innovations on the market.
Véronique Sestrières, the exhibition manager, tells us all about the new products presented during this unmissable event for the packaging industry, as well as the partnership set up this year with the “Conseil National de l’Emballage” (the French Packaging Council).
Meeting
Packaging reduction, a major issue for sustainable consumption:
Eco-emballages implements the cne packaging reduction indicator.
Sustainable consumption is a major society goal. The “Grenelle” law has defined a municipal waste reduction target of 7%. Consumers expect reliable information on entreprises efforts towards a reduced packaging. More than 50% of the people think there is too much packaging (Sofres 2010), and most of them have not identified the effort of companies to reduce packaging. Consumers are ready to sort more, but they need to be convinced of industry effort.
Prevention case
Focus on a preventive action case in 2012
The main task of the “Conseil National de l’Emballage” (the French Packaging Council) is to design and spread best prevention practices with its partners. It encourages economic players to take action quickly and explains to them concretely how other companies have managed to optimize their practices so far.
